"Engine Torque Damper" for MK5 Golf GTI
NEWRUN performance "Engine Torque Damper"
Before showing NewRun products to market, we installed it to my GTI for demo.
With its special qualify of GTI DSG transmission, it is installed in a low-speed to increase response and reduce tossing. Definitely, It looks solid and compact in the out surface and wonderfully (subtly) the red line, the symbol of GTI is very fit on it.
After installation, open the engine hood and check how the engine react whenever we set the mission to P,R,N,D and accelerate RPM, its reaction is reduced a far from Normal position.
Much enough to our purpose, we can Hardly feel the tossing in a low speed. Also, whenever we accelerate or transmission, we feel that the reaction of engine is reduced and change to be tight.
Response also, is the biggest issue of engine damper my GTI is not an exception. Before, an acceleration response was felt to be loose but after setting up, certainly felt to be tight.( There was no big differences but it’s enough to feel the difference) When I ride a new Audi TT before, and I can feel the tighter response than GTI( although it is used the same engine and mission) .This time, I could also get a same reaction.
However, when it’s idling, inevitably, the vibration is increase about 5~10 % than in normal. Personally I think it’s not a big deal, but if Volkswagen made the engine reaction by intent (considering the load of engine), I’m worried but when it tied by damper compulsorily. Anyway, with the result of awareness test so far, benefit is prominent.
